The "sound of music"...an awesome movie by the way!

I must click on this logo about twenty times a day! We all know this picture to be the familiar iTunes logo. If you have an Apple product, you have iTunes on your Desktop. Now as much as I want to continue the topic on iTunes and other Apple software systems, I rather talk about music, in general.

Most people, throughout their entire lives, learn two, three, four, at most five languages. I have never meet anyone who was able to speak six languages perfectly. But music is a language too...I mean did anyone ever stop and thinking about learning the language of music?


What is music anyway? Is it sound? Is it a rhythm? Or is it the lyrics that mean something? No matter what you look for in a good song, they are all ways of communicating what you feel. I mean everyone listens to music! I don't care who it is or what kind of music it is! It is a given fact. Since the day music was born, people have opened their ears to the beautiful harmonies artists out there offer! So you ask when was music born? Well, I don't quite know either, but I can tell you that it must have been around the same time man was born too. I don't think any human could have thrived without a little hip hop, rap, jazz, or rock in his life. Yes, even the cave men must have head banged to rock once or twice in their caves...I mean literally :)

I guess my point here is take time to appreciate music. It is not that hard as music is everywhere! Music can bring people together as it too is a very VERY beautiful language.

Just the other day...

Just the other day I was "walking on sunshine." And in the poetic words of Katrina and The Waves I asked myself, "don't it feel good?"

A couple days ago, I was in the midst of my most relaxing days over the past 3 months. The entire day was mine. I was not compelled to spend a single minute for another soul. Yes, I was contained in the walls of my apartment, but that feeling of confinement never entered my mind at any single moment.

Now summer is over. My first college summer is over, and it "don't feel so good." My long relaxing days are going to once again become compact and filled with classes and assignments. The hours, minutes, and seconds of each day will no longer belong to me. Dedication, persistence, and determination will become my daily mottoes. Is it just the hard work that repels the thought of college? No, that is not the only reason. It is the additional stress and pressure I constantly receive from my peers, classmates, and professors. And myself included. Fear oozes from my very pores as I think of the possibility of me not meeting my very own expectations. I don't think I will be able to handle that feeling once more. Remembering all this "don't make me feel so good."

There's this book called Audacity of Hope and it is written by the current President of the United States, Barack Obama. Now I haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but after the sequence of events today, I think I will. Obama, himself, portrayed his thoughts in written form in order to instill into the political minds of Americans that America has overcome numerous struggles before with the one driving idea, hope. And America can continue to hope and pass the ongoing downturn by having the courage, the bravery, and the audacity to believe in the future. Someone in charge of leading a country must have the strongest of hope in himself and in his actions. With only this belief can one lead millions of people to follow the same belief and succeed.

Rosa Parks

Giving up and losing motivation and hope are great options if you plan on never accomplishing any task given. Just thinking about any renowned or reputable individual in our history and present-day society, it is evident to me that if he or she had given up half way into their fight they might not have won. When someone said 'no,' they would hope for a different response the next time. Take Rosa Parks, for example (I did a book report on her in the 5th grade), she knew the rules and precepts of segregation, but she had hope that one day those would be gone. She defied sitting in only the colored section of the bus. She stood her ground, she believed in her ideal, and she most definitely hoped for it to become true. With her courageous optimism things came a long way from then.

When in doubt, ask Charlie Brown

People say that when one door closes another one opens, and most of the time I feel this quote is misinterpreted. We cannot literally take this to mean that when we fail, there is always another opportunity waiting right there for us. Rather I see this quote to signify that when a doorway is shut, we should remain positive and strive towards locating another door and if not a door, then a window. Our drive and our motivation should and shall remain as hope then only will we way find the way out much easier. Additionally this hope has to come from within, it is not something that one can hand to us. It cannot be expected it needs to be found. Once it is within our reach, there is nothing left to do but walk straight ahead.

Chicago's Night Skyline

I am 18 years old now. But I was only 10 when we moved to "the windy city." The numbers don't quite add up when I say I spent most of my life in Chicago so maybe I should clarify. I try to recollect my life before Chicago when I lived in Philadelphia PA, but I can gather nothing but glimpses of the few trips to New Jersey and one to New York City. I do remember a couple of faces I can call 'friends,' but none of whom have stayed with me beyond Philly's borders. So I think it goes without saying that my time spent in Pennsylvania cannot be equated to my 8 years in Chicago.

If I were to explain those 8 years in Chicago, it would have to be a brief account of the best years of my life, and that would not being doing myself justice. Therefore, I won't spend time now explaining the time spent in the city of the 'deep dish pizza.' If you, my dear reader, ever make a stop in Chicago, please go to Giordano's, yum! So I guess the only question I can answer now is why are the moments I spent in Chi town so significant to me? Well here is my answer, I can tell you in one sentence: 'my experiences from the past 8 years of my life make me who I am today.' They hold much significance as I might have been a totally different person if I had grown up in Dallas, Tallahassee, Las Vegas, or India. Well actually I think an incredible tan would be the only additional change if I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. But if I had grown up in a completely different country such as India, my life would be unimaginably dissimilar!

 Well I discovered just how dissimilar that would be. Just last year I had to leave Chicago and come to Hyderabad, India for college. And ever since there has not been a moment when I just didn't miss my hometown. Everything is to the contrary of what I had been in Chicago. I talk, eat, and think differently. All these transformations were unintentional and probably a mistake on my part. But they were necessary in order to blend in here. I spent the past 8 years defining myself, and now I am back to square one. Who would have ever thought, right? Well, I sure did not. Now the unthinkable idea that I live in India and may not go back to Chicago for a while has become my reality. I can't and don't even want to imagine what can come next.

Ever Heard of the Magnavox Odyssey?

If you answered yes to the title you should still read this post. And if you answered no, the Magnavox Odyssey was one of the first ever household gaming consoles. And if you didn't read the title, please do. In 1972, the Odyssey was released to the market for consumers to bring to their households. The console's journey didn't last long, but those same consumers, better referred to today as 'gamers,' have stayed to continue their odyssey in the gaming market.

And thus, the gaming revolution commenced. Every change to the components and the details of the new gaming consoles brought us to the level we are at today. I opened the newspaper today, specifically the tech section, to find that there is a new Wii U. Just yesterday, Nintendo announced  its new version of the Wii video-game console, called the Wii U. It is a hand-held touch screen unit which, "...can also display high-definition graphics; the current version of the Wii cannot." That's the catch! The idea that the Wii console sitting in your house cannot do what this new gaming technology can drives gamers everywhere to their laptops to buy the new product on the Nintendo online store! Well they will have to wait till 2012 which is when this new product will be released to the world of gamers just like all the past gaming devices were. "WERE," that is the key word here!

Ever since I can remember, gaming consoles have been constantly introduced and then thrown away! First there was the Sony PlayStation. As fun as it may have been, Sony then introduced the PlayStation 2. Later on, the PS2 was updated and finally Sony has arrived with its PS3! Paralleling Sony, Microsoft distributed the X-Box and the X-Box 360, both of which took their turn in the market. Nintendo, also running the same race, has traveled from the renowned Nintendo 64 to the Game Cube and then to the prevalent Wii.

Now we have to include the Wii U, which may be on everyones wish-list during the birthdays of next year. Don't get me wrong here, I totally support innovation in technology form, but it is clear to me there is no end to the 'game.' And if there is no stopping the gaming industries from inventing, then how do we know that this is the product to buy and not the next one? How can someone like myself, who enjoys her Wii console so much, decide whether or not to invest in the Wii U if I know the likelihood of the emerging Wii 'class' a Wii V...Wii W...Wii X...Wii Y...and Wii Z?

Graduation - HCHS class of 2010!!!! WOO!!

Graduation is like the turning point of every teenagers life!!! After this night, every highschool student must be ready to move on and start a new direction in life. Everything after graduation seems to come at a speed much faster than life has gone at...next comes college and then a job or a higher degree and before you know it you have traveled a good 180 degrees from this night!!!

My first post!!!

I have n.O____i.D.e.A what to write?!?!?!?!
College swamps up life...but fortunately I have a solution!!! Putting everything to the side and taking a breather!!! Ahhhh!!! YES!!! Maybe not the best solution...but it's like a CTRL-L(clear) for my mind ;-D

So like some of the best ways to chill would be....
1) Listening to music!!! (my favorite)
2) Writing in my blog!! (yup im chilling as we read) :)
3) Hobbies like basketball, swimming, dancing, singing, playing the guitar etc!!!
4) Reading or writing poetry!!
5) Anything but studying a serious subject!!!
6) Playing scrabble is fun too!!!!

In IIIT-Hyd, we students have only 2 sides to our life....education and relaxing!!! And education takes over and not only that it is a competitive type of education!!! Which obviously makes it more fun!!...NOT REALLY!!! I'll get into how its sucks much later but since this is my first post...!!! I'd like to mention...one of my favorite quotes!!!!!!!!
