I gave up on the crosswalk
I ran past the yellow light
I stood in the middle
I reacted from fright
I am standing still on
what now looks like a bar code
I am paused
Like the cover of Abbey Road
I can do nothing but hear
the Lennon-McCartney library
In my life, for some relief
I look into my crystal clear memory
Thoughts come together whirling
like leaves around a stem
then disappearing into the green light
I know I'll stop and think about them
--Walk on tomorrow
I ran past the yellow light
I stood in the middle
I reacted from fright
I am standing still on
what now looks like a bar code
I am paused
Like the cover of Abbey Road
I can do nothing but hear
the Lennon-McCartney library
In my life, for some relief
I look into my crystal clear memory
Thoughts come together whirling
like leaves around a stem
then disappearing into the green light
I know I'll stop and think about them
--Walk on tomorrow
